![]() Most 45 ACP suppressors will be able to run on either pistol caliber carbines or handguns interchangeably, but be mindful of suppressor diameter and whether a clear sight picture with stock iron sights is important to you. Handgun : In our previous blog post, we covered the difference between Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCCs) and handguns. If you’re running some seriously dirty ammunition through your firearm-suppressor dream team, expect to have to clean it either by using some elbow grease, or an ultrasonic cleaner, or having to do something in the middle of those two. We should mention here that user serviceability does not imply ease of cleaning. While regular maintenance is advised for some pistol suppressors, depending on your cleaning methods, a user serviceable suppressor might not be necessary for you. Because the pressure isn’t great enough to expel the projectile from the silencer, it can ultimately lead to an excessive buildup of carbon. Unlike rifle suppressors, pistol calibers produce far less pressure inside of a silencer. User Serviceability : It’s becoming more and more common to see that a suppressor is user serviceable, but does it matter for 45 suppressors? Well, if you look below at the nifty graph we provided, our top five list does have two silencers that aren’t user-serviceable, so for some people, it doesn’t matter, most likely due to how they clean their suppressors. Before we lift off, we want to set the mood, and what better way to do that than to dive into what sets 45 ACP suppressors apart from their compadres: their user serviceability, and their use on a PCC versus handgun. ![]()
